Application

Special care must be taken when using it in the as-welded condition due to higher strength levels. Recommended shielding gas is CO2 or an Argon/CO2 mixture. Used to weld 1.25% chrome - .50% moly steels for elevated temperatures and corrosive service.

Feature

• Contains a high level of deoxidizers (Mn and Si) and also molybdenum for increased strength.
• Suitable for single and multi-pass welding of a variety of carbon and low alloy steels.
• High toughness at low temperatures with a nominal 1% Ni or less.
• Preheat and interpass temperatures are typically kept between 375-425°F.
• These creep resistant steels are typically used in chemical industries for heat exchangers, boilers, piping and pressure vessels at service temperatures up to 1100°F.
• Capable of producing weld deposits with 550 MPa (80 ksi) tensile strength.
• Due to the low carbon content, and thus lower strength level, this alloy exhibits greater resistance to cracking and is more suitable for welds to be left in the as welded condition than ER90S-B3.
